Hypericum, also known as St. John's Wort reputedly taking this name from the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem who used this herb on the middle century Crusade battle fields.
A beautiful perennial plant which grows up to 1 metre in height with bright yellow gland edged flowers and small dotted oval leaves which when held up to the light appear to be perforated, hence the species name.
The pharmacologically active compound of this herb is Hypericin, the basis on which the strength of this product is accurately evaluated.
Hypericum may act as a natural sedative and is recognised as promoting general well being in times of nervous tension through the temporary relief of associated stress, mild anxiety and insomnia.
