Evening Primrose Oil is native to North America and acquired its primrose name because its bright yellow flowers resemble primrose flowers and these flowers open in the evening.
The plant was introduced to England through cotton waste from America which was dumped in the countryside and seeds began to grow and eventually spread across Europe. Due to its perceived useful medicinal properties it became known as “Kings Cure All”.
