Cranberry

Not just a pretty fruit but a nutrient powerhouse. Cranberries are among the top foods with proven health benefits. Recent research shows that cranberries contain significant amounts of antioxidants and other phytonutrients that may help protect against heart disease, cancer and other diseases. Cranberries contain proanthocyanidins (PACs) that can prevent urinary infections by binding to bacteria so they can't adhere to cell walls. The anti-adhesion properties of cranberry may also inhibit the bacteria associated with gum disease and stomach ulcers.

They are native to the wetlands of Northern parts of the United States, a low growing, and vine trailing type plant, similar to a strawberry. The plant produces short vertical branches which go to bear either the well known crimson red oval shape fruit or perennial ovate leaves. They thrive on the properties of wetlands and are known as nature’s sponges from their ability to store and purify water as well as helping to maintain the water table.

Note:
Anyone suffering from persistent cystitis, should seek advice from their health care professional.
